What is the Virtual Nursing Academy?

The Virtual Nursing Academy is the premier, self-directed online program designed to educate and enable organizations to develop, launch, and evaluate their virtual care delivery models. The Virtual Nursing Academy focuses on developing a strategic approach, launch plan, governance structure, outcome tracking, and operations of a virtual nursing care model.

The program is offered four times per year and is perfect for nurse executives, informaticists, nurse leaders, nurses and other team members who will be involved with a virtual nursing care model.

Participants will earn CEs and a certificate of completion.

The asynchronous, learning library provides specially curated content to maximize learning. A 10-week cadence is recommended to work through the modules designed to give participants a self-paced learning experience to fit demanding schedules and individual learning needs.

The online community and discussion forum provides ongoing dialogue and opportunities for networking with other organizations on the virtual nursing journey.

Real-time, virtual, "drop-in" sessions with our expert faculty provide opportunities to learn from and interact with the faculty as well as ask questions about organizational challenges all while building a virtual nursing model.

Tuition & Discounts


General Tuition: $2800 per participant

Private Coaching: $1500

Add 2 one-hour private group virtual nursing coaching sessions to address your organization’s unique challenges. The private coaching sessions will be facilitated by our expert faculty who will guide discussion and ideation on your organization's unique issues. The goal of these sessions is to identify solutions that align with your organization’s goals and timelines.


Hospitals and health systems are eligible to receive a 10% discount with a minimum of 10 registrants.

Continuing Education

This nursing continuing professional development activity will award a maximum of 33.75 contact hours for completion of all modules. CNE contact hours will be awarded upon completion of each module’s exercise. This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Dr. Clipper is a nurse futurist, pioneer in virtual nursing, nationally recognized thought leader in building cultures of innovation, and global speaker. Bonnie was among the first to revolutionize how virtual nursing care is practiced and delivered in hospitals and created the Virtual Nursing Academy to deploy virtual nursing across the country.

Ryan brings a wealth of experience in leadership and played a pivotal role in spearheading the implementation of cutting-edge care modalities to transform care on inpatient hospital units. His passion is shaping the future of healthcare delivery.


Dominick Pahl, MS, RN

Virtual Nursing Catalyst

Dominick leverages his clinical expertise and experience in the virtual care space to design, implement and support new virtual care delivery models. Dominick was the Nurse Administrator responsible for the Virtual Nursing, Remote Patient Monitoring, and Virtual Monitoring programs and played a pivotal role in virtual care initiatives for the Mayo Clinic Enterprise.


Claudia Q. Perez, BSN, MHI, RN

Innovation Strategist

Claudia is a nurse and has nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare. Her expertise is focused on using innovation frameworks to transform healthcare delivery utilizing the principles of Value-Based Healthcare. Claudia has a track record of demonstrating value through design thinking projects, technology showcases, Hackathons, and innovation challenges.

Dr. Shade' Reid is a seasoned Healthcare provider/Nurse Practitioner, healthcare consultant, nurse entrepreneur, innovator, program manager, and emerging capital entrepreneur. She is passionate about supporting nursing innovation and building an impactful innovative ecosystem for the nursing community.



Virtual Nursing Catalyst

Amy is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and leader in the integration of virtual care and nursing practice. She was a driving force behind the development and advancement of a virtual acute care nursing practice model, has championed the use of virtual technologies to connect nurses with patients and has been instrumental in advancing remote patient monitoring nursing practice for patients outside of the traditional healthcare setting.


Erika Rolland, MSN, RN, RN-BC

Virtual Nursing Catalyst

Erika has experience in developing and advancing the virtual nursing specialty. She played a pivotal role in reshaping and redefining patient care models to align with the complex landscape of virtual healthcare. Her deep expertise is in remote patient monitoring nursing models.


Emily Schmidt, BSN, RN SANE

Virtual Nurse Educator

Emily has helped develop new virtual care delivery models, been involved in technology evaluation, and has experience integrating emerging technology into the virtual care delivery model. Emily has also assisted the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board develop the Virtual Nurse Certification exam.
